I dis some research and found TAY CO over the boot alternative , Just what I wanted and does support my foot and ankle well without feeling cumbersome!

This thing is amazing. 10 times more comfortable than a boot and almost as good (less good if you injure the joint in flexion). Was a total game changer in my recovery and I was able to start walking a lot sooner. I also was able to start lifting and walking on trails much sooner

I wore a boot that was prescribed for me by my PC doc for several months last winter. It was uncomfortable and shifted weight around so my hip hurt.
I was told I had a compression fracture of my tibula. After awhile I thought I was healed and I quit the boot.
A few weeks ago the same pain came back. I was sick of the boot and decided to try the TayCo. It is ten times more comfortable, almost like you don't know it is there. I don't know if it helping to heal the tibula problem for sure, but I don't feel any pain. I will use it for the next six weeks and then see where I am. I have been able to cut my grass in two, 20 minutes segments separated by a day. I am 78.

This ankle brace is excellent for hiking and backpacking. I backpacked 250 miles in Arizona wearing this ankle brace. It was comfortable and kept me safe , even on rocky steep trails in the wilderness and unmaintained roads. Highly recommend. I wear it with high socks or a calf compression sleeve.

So far it’s working fine what I really like about it is that I feel my feet stabler easy to walk on and with more use I hope it will heal my injured ankle I am satisfied

I have an inoperable tear in my left tendon. I used soft braces for the past year and the injury kept breaking my shoes down. I was unable to walk on uneven ground. I do a lot of outside stuff. I am a constable and serve warrants for a living. I also actively participate in wilderness search and rescue. Since my injury search and rescue has been out of the question. After receiving my active x brace from Tayco and pairing it with good lace up ankle boots lots of good changes have happened. I am now able to walk well on even terrain and pain in my foot has subsided. This has been a gamechanger for me and a lifesaver. I am now able to get back to what I love. I was hesitant at first, but after calling and talking with Kelly I felt assured to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. I feel very confident taking steps and had lost that feeling.

I’m having ankle replacement surgery in the fall, but in the meantime, I still need to walk around. I can’t believe how much more stable my ankle feels with this brace on. I highly recommend it.

I had gout in the right ankle for several years. Finally got the right level of meds to address the gout. However, the uric acid deposits destroyed the ankle joint and as the uric acid deposits were reduced the leg bone slipped to the side of the foot. Wearing the over the shoe athletic ankle brace allows me to have pain free mobility and keeps my foot aligned with the leg bone.

I didn't expect the results I have gotten with this brace. I have nerve damage and my ankle rolls out and I can't lift up on my right foot because of it. This really helps especially on uneven surfaces not perfect but the best I have found. Thank you tayco

I bought the AthleticX brace after dislocating and breaking my ankle and leg while skydiving. After applying zero weight to the ankle for almost 6 weeks post surgery, I brought the brace with me to the doctors office, and told them I was planning to use it instead of the boot immediately. The doctor gave his blessing, albeit with a stern warning about being careful not to twist the ankle - and one week later I am walking fairly normally when wearing the brace. Still a long way to go with the recovery, but I feel much more confident when wearing the brace than not wearing it.
I bought a second brace to wear on the other foot when I go back to skydiving, and I am confident that I will be able to run out the landings easily wearing both braces.

For me it hurts my ankle more. does it keep it stable yes! But the pressure on my tendons hurt so bad I have to take it off.

It’s important that it feels supportive without adding discomfort, especially around sensitive tendons. We’d still like to help if we can. I have been injured since 2007 in Iraq I am partially parrilized the army and va have given me numerous things to help me walk,I can't walk on any surface thats not flat with this brace I can walk again its helped me more than anything else I have tried my next va appointment I will be showing them.

The brace does a good job making sure I do not roll my ankle while doing yard work. The two bottom straps are rather long. The top two straps are ok, but I do not like the fact the other end of the straps are too much like the opposite end I am supposed to pull on. The ends could be made sturdier. The tag on the top strap is in a bad place. I had to cut it off, because it was raveling from the velcro. I cannot bend down very well due to back surgery, so this is inconvenient for me.

On the straps, they can be trimmed on the dotted lines for a better fit and they will not fray, which should help with the excess length. We also appreciate the notes on the strap ends and tag placement. That kind of feedback is helpful as we continue to improve the design.
I have been using this brace for close to 2 weeks, cannot say enough good things about it. 1. Does not rub skin raw. 2 Ease of use when putting on. 3. It will not allow you ankle to roll. Far superior to the Ritchie Brace.

I recently received Tayco brace and have used it for the past week. It is excellent and does exactly what I need, support for a rebuilt ankle where I have no dorsiflexion.

Wanted to pass along how well the ankle brace performed on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. 10 days, 100 miles, up/down over rocky and dirt terrain, a couple of days in rain. Wore it over an Altra Timp shoe. I had several times when the brace kept my ankle from an inversion injury. It provided piece of mind and allowed me to enjoy the hike and not focus on my ankle. I have wide calves and relatively small feet, so my podiatrist recommended this brace to use after surgery when we couldn’t find a CAM boot that fit. It is supportive and as comfortable as anything could be given the circumstances.
Great customer service too, I had to request longer straps and they sent them quickly for no extra cost.

The strap across the top of my foot rubbed the skin off the top of my foot .That happened on the second day. That is not acceptable. I would never recommend.
By the way I was wearing a New Balance 608 shirt tennis shoe.
