Sizing Guide: AthleticX Brace
The AthleticX Brace supports all cleat and shoe widths with the adjustable stirrup strap. Select brace size based on shoe length size. If you find yourself between two sizes, size down.
For kids, please note that youth shoe sizes (designated as "Y") align closely with adult sizes. For example, a Youth 6 (6Y) is equivalent to a Men’s 6 or a Women’s 7.5.

Wearing your TayCo CombatX Brace correctly is essential for proper support and protection. Because it shares key features with the TayCo AthleticX Brace, the fitting process is the same. Watch the video below to learn how to properly fit your brace, or view the complete step-by-step guide.

Designed and used by active military members
Most Gear Holds Up. Your Ankle Doesn't Always.
When you’re covering miles on uneven ground, side-hilling, or carrying weight, your ankle is constantly at risk.
Most braces are not built for this.
They break down, restrict movement, or fail when conditions get real.
And when your ankle goes, you're not slowing down. You're done.
The CombatX Brace is Not a Medical Device. It's Gear You Rely On to Stay In It.
The CombatX Brace is designed for people who do not get to pick their terrain. It delivers consistent support, adapts to impact, and moves naturally with your body so you can keep going when conditions are working against you.

Cleaning & Care
Wash the plastic components with warm water and a washcloth. A rubbing alcohol may be used as a gentle cleanser.
The straps can be removed and machine washed on cold. Do not use bleach, do not dry clean, and hang to dry.
Built to Hold Up When It Matters
External Support System
Unlike inside-the-shoe braces that rely on the boot for rigidity, the CombatX Brace wraps the outside, giving you a more stable, consistent base.
Dynamic Joint Design
Controls side-to-side and rotational movement, while allowing you to point your foot up and down. You get support where ankle injuries happen, with no restriction on push-off or natural gait.
Lightweight Construction
Built to hold up without loading you down. Designed for all-day wear, not just the first mile out of camp.
G-FORM SmartFlex Padding
Soft and flexible when you are moving. Hardens on impact to absorb the hit. Returns to soft again. No bulk, no tradeoff.
Kevlar-Reinforced Stirrup Strap
Routes under the shoe to anchor the brace to your footwear. Adjustable to fit any sole thickness, so it works with your boots as they are.
Abrasion- and Burr-Resistant Strapping
Runs across the top of the shoe and around the leg to secure the brace in place. Built to hold position over long days and rough miles, not just the first wear.
Built for Serious Terrain
The CombatX Brace is designed for people who push hard in real terrain and need gear that holds up the same way they do.
Serious Outdoorsmen
Work, movement, and time spent in demanding environments.
Big Game Hunters
Uneven ground. Heavy packs. High consequence terrain.
Backcountry and Mountain Use
Long miles. Elevation. No easy way out.
Common Questions
Will it restrict how I move?
No. The dynamic joint design allows full, natural ankle movement. You won't feel a loss of push-off or a change in your gait. The brace supports the joint without locking it.
Can I wear this for long periods of time?
Yes. The lightweight design and G-FORM SmartFlex padding allow for extended wear without constant stiffness or discomfort.
Will it fit my boots?
Yes. The CombatX Brace is an external brace wrapping the outside of your boot, not inside it. It's designed to work with the footwear you already wear in the field.
How is this different from taping or a traditional ankle brace?
Taping is inconsistent and breaks down in the field. Standard in-shoe braces don't hold up under real terrain conditions. The CombatX Brace delivers 2.4x the side-to-side support of in-shoe alternatives, with a consistent fit across the day.
I've had ankle injuries before. Will this help?
The CombatX Brace is designed for prevention and protection in high-impact environments. Many users with previous ankle injuries wear it as daily field gear. For specific injury concerns, consult your medical provider.
Is this only for injuries?
No. It can be used proactively for support or after previous injuries so an ankle injury doesn't take you out of the field.
